Koo failed for number of reasons Lack of funding to compete with a global giant like X is one of the primary reasons. Earnings on an Indian platform promoting Indian companies isn’t high, companies don’t spend on ads in India if it is related to the internet promotions. Sectors like FMCG will be promoting their products/companies for a larger audience which is likely on TV. Influencers active on social media here in India are getting 1/10th of what the US/EU influencers are making. Even if you compare the payouts of users active on X they too vary from region to region. Koo also failed in the marketing side, apart of some random controversies by some govt officials during the so called shouts of banning X there was almost no marketing from them.

Koo shut down trying to replace Twitter (X). Twitter thrives on drama and toxicity, and Koo thought they could do build a platform free of this toxicity. Newsflash: no drama, no audience.

I worked with Mayank back during the Goodbox days, a very soft spoken person. Despite of what markets play, an entrepreneur keeps building one thing or other until they receive a key success. But what killed the Koo bird? 1. Differentiation: - N
