I worked with Mayank back during the Goodbox days, a very soft spoken person. Despite of what markets play, an entrepreneur keeps building one thing or other until they receive a key success. But what killed the Koo bird? 1. Differentiation: - No originality. Social networks have feature-based USPs, like Snap's disappearing chat. This gives a fighting chance against big players. -Addressing Indian diversity as key factor didnt add much to the basic X features it had. Hike and Krutrim follows the same trend 2. Association: - People finds Whatsapp as their personal right. We see Indians reluctant to share Whatsapp number, concerning breach of their social privacy - Youtuber, Insta influencers find these platform as a reflection of their personal identity - Social media works on network effect (More ppl=more value). But Koo lacked personal integration, failing to build repeatitive daily active users, leading to higher onboarding cost & attrittion Why do you think Koo failed?

Branding is the key!! Many founders just call themselves as a brand or term their product/service as a brand. But it is not what you say, it is what your 'CUSTOMER' says about you.
