Why some social media works and some don't ? Facebook - worked. Twitter - worked. Reddit - worked. Medial - working. Pretty successful till date. And etc. ------------- Blue learn - Failed. Koo - Failed. ( Add yours) So the Q is why ?

Koo, mom, chingari and sharechat too will fail because making social media etc for tier 2 and 3 is okay, great and all. So many people will use it but the core money making thing behind these are ads and companies don't want to pay to advertise to tier 2 or 3 crowd who won't be able to afford their stuff.

Usecase is pretty unique in the ones that worked and the ones that didn't were just trying to replicate the same thing but ina. different market or for different demographic.

It's very simple. They had unique features. 1. FB was the first with private walls and friendships 2. Insta was first with Image sharing and followers concept 3. Snap was first of its kind with disappearing msgs and stories 4. LinkedIn was the only professional network 5. Twitter was fastest to send a short live tweet 6. Reddit was the only forum based platform for discussions 7. Tg was the only secure messaging platform with privacy 8. Whatsapp was the only personal messaging platform 9. Discord was the only live audio streaming between multiple users playing a game 10. Twitch was the first and only video broadcasting platform 11. Medium was the only article sharing platform 12. TikTok was the only short video platform after Vine. Social media is run on unique features. They get quick solve the supply and demand problems. Now we also have few vertical social media platforms too catering for few specific audience

Koo’s biggest mistake? Thinking that being a desi alternative is enough. Twitter is global, multi-lingual, and it works. Koo didn’t give a good reason for people to switch. At the end of the day, it’s about traction, not nationalism.
One word: timing. Facebook, Twitter hit the market when social media was booming. Reddit had the ‘underground’ community vibe. Koo? A Twitter wannabe trying to cash in on nationalism. Timing and purpose matter
Well first reason is surely Network effect. no matter how great your Social Media platform is, if your friends, etc are not joining it. you will not use it for long. Second is what your platform offers. Like each platform you took the time name of is little different and offers different features. That's why X succeed and not Koo. and third is Funding. There's no way Facebook would have succeed without the help of Investors and their advice
