Everyone should know how Agentic AI really works. I’ve explained it in a simple way below. 1. 𝗨𝘀𝗲𝗿 𝗜𝗻𝘁𝗲𝗿𝗳𝗮𝗰𝗲 (𝗙𝗿𝗼𝗻𝘁𝗲𝗻𝗱) Everything begins with the 𝗨𝘀𝗲𝗿 𝗜𝗻𝘁𝗲𝗿𝗳𝗮𝗰𝗲. • Users type a message or give a task • This happens inside a website, app, or chat UI The frontend is where humans talk to AI. 2. 𝗥𝗲𝗾𝘂𝗲𝘀𝘁 → 𝗔𝗴𝗲𝗻𝘁 𝗥𝘂𝗻𝘁𝗶𝗺𝗲 The frontend sends the request to the 𝗔𝗴𝗲𝗻𝘁 𝗥𝘂𝗻𝘁𝗶𝗺𝗲. • This is where the agent starts working • The request is no longer just text, it becomes a task Think of this as sending a job to the AI assistant. 3. 𝗔𝗜 𝗔𝗴𝗲𝗻𝘁 (𝗧𝗵𝗲 𝗢𝗿𝗰𝗵𝗲𝘀𝘁𝗿𝗮𝘁𝗼𝗿) The 𝗔𝗜 𝗔𝗴𝗲𝗻𝘁 is the central controller. It: • Understands the request • Breaks the task into steps • Decides what resources are needed • Manages the full workflow The agent doesn’t just answer, it 𝗽𝗹𝗮𝗻𝘀 𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝗲𝘅𝗲𝗰𝘂𝘁𝗲𝘀. 4. 𝗔𝗜 𝗠𝗼𝗱𝗲𝗹 (𝗧𝗵𝗶𝗻𝗸𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗘𝗻𝗴𝗶𝗻𝗲) The agent sends 𝗶𝗻𝗳𝗲𝗿𝗲𝗻𝗰𝗲 𝗿𝗲𝗾𝘂𝗲𝘀𝘁𝘀 to the AI model. The model helps with: • Reasoning • Writing • Summarizing • Decision-making The model returns 𝗶𝗻𝗳𝗲𝗿𝗲𝗻𝗰𝗲 𝗿𝗲𝘀𝗽𝗼𝗻𝘀𝗲𝘀 back to the agent. 5. 𝗠𝗲𝗺𝗼𝗿𝘆 (𝗖𝗼𝗻𝘁𝗲𝘅𝘁 + 𝗟𝗲𝗮𝗿𝗻𝗶𝗻𝗴) The agent connects to 𝗠𝗲𝗺𝗼𝗿𝘆. 𝗮) 𝗦𝗵𝗼𝗿𝘁-𝘁𝗲𝗿𝗺 𝗠𝗲𝗺𝗼𝗿𝘆 • Holds current conversation context • Tracks task progress 𝗯) 𝗟𝗼𝗻𝗴-𝘁𝗲𝗿𝗺 𝗠𝗲𝗺𝗼𝗿𝘆 • Stores knowledge across sessions • Remembers preferences and history Memory makes the agent 𝗰𝗼𝗻𝘀𝗶𝘀𝘁𝗲𝗻𝘁 𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝗽𝗲𝗿𝘀𝗼𝗻𝗮𝗹𝗶𝘇𝗲𝗱. 6. 𝗧𝗼𝗼𝗹𝘀 (𝗥𝗲𝗮𝗹-𝗪𝗼𝗿𝗹𝗱 𝗔𝗰𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻𝘀) When tasks need external help, the agent uses 𝗧𝗼𝗼𝗹𝘀. Examples: 𝗮) 𝗗𝗮𝘁𝗮𝗯𝗮𝘀𝗲𝘀 → fetch stored data 𝗯) 𝗔𝗣𝗜𝘀 → interact with services 𝗰) 𝗦𝗲𝗿𝘃𝗶𝗰𝗲𝘀 → run workflows 𝗱) 𝗙𝗶𝗹𝗲𝘀 → read/write documents Tools allow the agent to 𝘁𝗮𝗸𝗲 𝗮𝗰𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻𝘀, not just chat. 7. 𝗖𝗼𝗺𝗺𝘂𝗻𝗶𝗰𝗮𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻 𝗣𝗿𝗼𝘁𝗼𝗰𝗼𝗹 The agent needs a way to talk to tools and systems. • This layer handles how data flows • Ensures everything connects smoothly 8. 𝗔𝗴𝗲𝗻𝘁 𝗖𝗼𝗺𝗯𝗶𝗻𝗲𝘀 𝗘𝘃𝗲𝗿𝘆𝘁𝗵𝗶𝗻𝗴 The agent now has: • Model reasoning • Memory context • Tool results It combines everything to prepare the final output. 9. 𝗥𝗲𝘀𝗽𝗼𝗻𝘀𝗲 → 𝗙𝗿𝗼𝗻𝘁𝗲𝗻𝗱 The final answer is sent back to the app or website. • The user sees the result • The conversation can continue 10. 𝗕𝗮𝗰𝗸 𝘁𝗼 𝗨𝘀𝗲𝗿 (𝗟𝗼𝗼𝗽) The user receives the response. • New questions start the loop again • Memory keeps improving future interactions This is the full flow of modern Agentic AI systems.
