I've been researching facial recognition payment systems for over a year, and I strongly believe India is NOT ready for this technology at scale. The infrastructure challenges are enormous - inconsistent lighting in shops, intermittent internet connectivity in tier 2/3 cities, and the sheer diversity of facial features across different ethnic groups in India make accuracy a nightmare. We piloted a similar system in Bangalore and encountered 23% false rejection rates in real-world conditions. Plus, the regulatory framework simply isn't there yet. RBI hasn't issued clear guidelines on biometric payments beyond Aadhaar, leaving you in a dangerous compliance gray area.
