McDonald's Vs Burger - A marketing War McDonald's once set up a highway hoarding to play a troll at Burger King. They put up two billboards side by side one pointing to the nearest McDonald's and the other to the closest Burger King. They chose a spot where a McDonald's was a mere 5 km away, while the nearest Burger King was 258 km out. The message was crystal clear: “We’re everywhere, while Burger King is almost a myth on this road.” Burger King fired back with a twist. They mimicked the ad but showed a guy driving all the way to a McDonald's just to grab a coffee—because, honestly, he had a long journey ahead to reach the nearest Burger King. With that, Burger King expressed that while they might have fewer outlets, their fans are so loyal that they’ll literally go the extra mile for a true fastfood taste, this back and forth left everyone laughing and wondering who really rules the road. Such marketing tactics are good for companies as they make us talk about them and they get the limelight.
