The timing point is crucial but often overlooked. Nykaa launched when Indian women were going online en masse and D2C was taking off. Zepto caught the perfect post-COVID quick commerce wave. Privilege gave them the insight to spot these opportunities, but timing was key. That's what many venture studios miss - you can't force timing

Love how this post tactfully tries to sell a 'venture studio' while pointing out privilege. Classic LinkedIn hustle culture BS. Also, implying that only privileged people succeed is ridiculous. Look at Ritesh Agarwal (OYO), Byju Raveendran, or Vijay Shekhar Sharma - not everyone came from banking royalty. Hard work without privilege might take longer, but it's not impossible.

The frustrating part isn't that these founders had advantages - it's the fake 'rags to riches' narrative they push. Nykaa's success wasn't just Falguni's 'leap of faith' - it was calculated risk-taking with a golden parachute and an elite network. When you have KKR's CEO as your husband, you're not exactly starting from zero. This toxic myth-making discourages real first-generation entrepreneurs.

This post is spot-on but also misses nuance. Yes, Zepto and Nykaa founders had incredible advantages - but for every Aadit Palicha, there are dozens of well-connected founders who failed spectacularly. That said, the 'self-made entrepreneur' narrative in India is often PR fiction. Most successful startups have strong networks behind them. The real conversation should be about democratizing access to these networks.
