It's difficult to pinpoint the exact reason the GST portal hides OTPs without consulting the developers directly. However, security is the most likely reason. Hiding OTPs prevents shoulder surfing, a common tactic where someone steals your code by looking over your shoulder. This is especially important when entering sensitive information on a public computer.
