An avg Indian consumes ~3x sugar as an avg Chinese every day. And that’s an alarming thing to solve. Let's deepdive! .. An avg Indian consumes ~55gms of sugar every day. But, this is often played down by the fact that this is just 40% of what the US consumes. In fact, India’s per capita daily sugar consumption is just: 53% that of Germany 52% of Netherlands 68% of the UAE 83% of the UK .. But, we are never told, that India’s per capita daily sugar consumption is: 4x that of Bangladesh 3x that of China 1.2x that of Singapore .. So, are we really better off? China is already way ahead of us in terms of consumerism and eating outside and processed foods. And yet, an avg Chinese consumes a third of how much sugar an Indian consumes! This is a big perspective shifter. .. In all senses, the Chinese have done well. This can be validated via proxy parameters. Like, for every Chinese diabetic patient, we have 3.2 Indians. That’s a big blot to address. .. And any way, take the WHO recommendation. It says you are good if you consume 11gms of sugar a day. But, if you go beyond 25gms, that’s a big problem. And an avg Indian does more than double that. Ouch! .. This is why we need more of legends like Revant Himatsingka, aka Food Pharmer! We need people to begin reading food labels. We need people to consume less processed or outside foods & drinks. Particularly sugar-rich foods & drinks. Mind it, I did not say, we should not consume processed and outside articles. But, that we should do less of it. Rest, it’s one’s own individual choice. What do you think?
