Food delivery platform Zomato has increased its platform fee for customers by 25% to Rs 5 per order, effective April 20. The fee increase, applicable in key markets including Delhi, Bengaluru, Mumbai, and Hyderabad, is expected to boost the company's earnings. Zomato's rival, Swiggy, already charges Rs 5 as a Platform fee. What are ur thoughts on this will Zomato userbase effected by the new charges or will it boost company earnings?

Definitely a poor decision. All these kinds of apps will shut down in 2-3 years I believe. Cause ONDC started launching platforms with literally 0 fees or negligible fee of 0.1-0.5% By the Govt, for the users..... 💭 Thoughts???

In my opinion it will most certainly boost earnings. Most people ordering through such apps will not give a damn about INR 5 (even as long as it is in single digit). And remember, we are now creatures of habit. It is also sort of a duopoly right now.

As someone who's extensively working with Google maps and know about this routing and dispatch stuff let me tell you. It's very expensive. Just picking a delivery address costs 0.6 rs. Getting a route can cost up to 1.5 rs per delivery.

Food used to be delivered free by restaurants. This is deserving, let those lazy bozos who can't live without these food delivery apps pay the penalty for their inanity. Increase more Zomato, why just limit to 25 percent?!

I think fee increases for cover losses.. Although zomato have big and so many opportunities as it has a user and restaurants data (Data is everything If you used it right way) for example, Sell vegetables to the restaurants buy directly from farmers or big players (huge margins in that also)
