However, many startup choose niche category but after some operations,they realise that it's very small market in terms of user and expansion. That's why I think. Correct me if I am wrong..

Yea that's why I mentioned it should be addressed before getting fully involved in startup. For eg if you aren't able to consider how big market is then after few minor operation it would be clear how big tam is , so it has nothing doing with scaling stage , it should be considered in very beginning stage
