The Indian startup ecosystem still tilts heavily in favor of IITs. If you’re from the “OG” IITs - IIT Madras, IIT Bombay, IIT Delhi, IIT Kharagpur, IIT Kanpur, your default graph is just stronger. Better investor connects. Warmer intros. Access to opportunities. And yes, having more IITians on your team does make fundraising easier. Pedigree compounds. These are just pattern-matched realities. But at NeoSapien, we are deliberately building against that bias. We don’t optimize for pedigree. We optimize for intensity. We want people who are irrationally passionate, question norms (non-negotiable), and are slightly delusional about what’s possible Because outliers don’t come from institutions.
