A small shift at home that taught me something big For years, my mother battled serious neurological issues. It was a long stretch of 6–7 tough years. She eventually recovered, and about four months ago she joined a yoga class to rebuild her strength. Here’s the thing. My father, who has always avoided anything that even looks like exercise, started learning yoga after watching her improve. And in the background, I’d quietly been showing up at the gym for the last four months. Somewhere along the way, without planning it, our house turned into a group of people who care about their health. We eat cleaner. We stick to one cheat meal every couple of weeks. We’re more aware, more present, and a little more disciplined than before. What this really means is that change doesn’t always start with big declarations. Sometimes one person’s consistency nudges another, and suddenly the whole family is moving in a better direction.
