Saw this CNBC article about how 75% of resumes get filtered out by ATS before humans even see them - built a tool to help job seekers Just came across this eye-opening CNBC article titled "Resume: How yours can beat the applicant tracking system" and honestly, the stats are brutal. Apparently 75% of resumes never get seen by human eyes and 95% of Fortune 500 companies use ATS to filter applications. Most qualified candidates get auto-rejected for formatting issues. As someone who's been job hunting recently, this explains SO much about why perfectly qualified people aren't getting callbacks. The whole system seems broken when good candidates can't even get past the robots. The real problem is most people don't realize their resume formatting is killing their chances. PDFs that ATS can't parse properly, creative layouts that confuse the software, missing keywords the system is scanning for, contact info buried in headers and footers that the system can't read. What I've learned actually works is using simple clean formatting which is boring but effective. You need to mirror keywords from the job posting naturally. The article mentions some tools but honestly most are expensive or have limited free scans. After getting frustrated with this whole situation I ended up creating a template bot in ailochat.com that helps with ATS optimized resume building using AI. Has anyone else dealt with this ATS nightmare? What strategies have actually worked for you?
