𝗛𝗼𝘁 𝘁𝗮𝗸𝗲: 𝐎𝐩𝐞𝐧𝐀𝐈 𝐰𝐢𝐥𝐥 𝐞𝐯𝐞𝐧𝐭𝐮𝐚𝐥𝐥𝐲 𝐚𝐝𝐝 𝐚𝐝𝐬 𝐭𝐨 𝐂𝐡𝐚𝐭𝐆𝐏𝐓. Why? Because ChatGPT is a consumer product, not B2B software. Most of its ~1B users won’t pay — ever. And subscriptions alone won’t scale 𝗔𝗥𝗣𝗨 (average revenue per user). 𝗕𝗶𝗴 𝘁𝗲𝗰𝗵 𝗵𝗮𝘀 𝗳𝗮𝗰𝗲𝗱 𝘁𝗵𝗶𝘀 𝗯𝗲𝗳𝗼𝗿𝗲: Google was free → added ads → now $300B+ in ad revenue. Meta (Facebook, Insta) is free → runs on ads → $130B+ in yearly ad revenue. YouTube introduced Premium, but ads still dominate revenue. OpenAI isn’t immune. It’ll follow the same path — monetize attention. Not today. But it’s coming.

I respectfully disagree with you. See firstly ChatGPT is way different from websites like like Google and YouTube because it actually offering something as valuable as Ai which is gonna dominate the next decade. So it's not like if it's a paid tool, one won't use it. You can shift to it's competitors but the best ones still gets a moat. Secondly disposable income of people is pumping and that's why people are choosing subscription over ads. That's the same reason why all major apps got a paid subscription to avoid ads. Thus when you take all these reasons and put them together, you'll realise that people sooner or later would surely pay for it. Life without Ai would become very tough and that's why. Also if you talk about ads, I don't think they will be yhe banner type ads you see everywhere. They will make money through the commission they make for ordering goods and services, etc etc. Like we're discussing earlier too. It's gonna be like a superapp offering all the services at once. Thus there's no way people aren't really gonna pay for it, and even if they don't, there're still ways to make money apart from direct ads.

what if the ads are added to the response itself suggesting products based on the problem statement that the user has given. like the ad is part of the content such that it doesn't feel like it's an ad same as what is happening in instagram reels too many creators create content around the product which doesn't make it look like an ad. what if chat got is able to do the same
