This is heartbreaking — and sadly, not rare. Startups are supposed to build the future, not break people in the process. Micromanagement, abuse, and toxic "vision" aren't leadership — they’re just unchecked power with a shiny title. HRs must stop acting as passive observers. Founders must learn that burnout ≠ productivity, and fear never builds loyalty. And as a community, we have to stop glorifying hustle culture at the cost of human dignity. This isn’t a one-off story. It’s a symptom. And if we don’t call it out — loudly, consistently, and collectively — we’re enabling it. Empathy isn’t optional in leadership. It’s the minimum.
