What’s the cost of a toxic founder, we wonder? It started with a Google Meet. It ended in the hospital. A junior data scientist shared on Reddit how he endured 7 months of micromanagement, unrealistic deadlines, and constant yelling from a “non-tech” CEO at a Bengaluru startup. He worked 12–14 hours daily, weekends included. No empathy, just control. After resigning, the CEO scheduled a 1-on-1 meet — excluding the manager — and launched into a verbal assault so intense, the employee collapsed, gasping for air. His mother heard him from the next room and rushed him to the hospital. Reported by Mint, this isn’t hustle. It’s cruelty. So when did ambition start justifying abuse? Why are HRs still silent? Why are we still glorifying toxic aggression as “vision”? Startups are meant to solve problems, not create trauma. If we don’t call this out now, we’re complicit. Let’s fix this before another Reddit post shocks us.
