Everyone talks about growth. But the smart ones think about "moats". A moat is what protects your business when others try to copy you. And it’s never just your product. It’s how hard you make it for others to steal your position. Want examples? Brand moat: Apple. You don’t buy it for specs. You buy it for status. Community moat: Notion. Users promote it more than the company. Process moat: McDonald’s. Same fries in 100+ countries. Data moat: Google. Every click makes them smarter. So ask yourself: If someone clones your product today — why won’t they win tomorrow? Moats > Features. Durability > Hype. Silent advantages > Loud marketing. Build slow if you have to but build something they can’t steal.

Buy this, it’s high quality” is the dumbest pitch. People buy emotionally for utility, not specs. Everyone has a car, but not everyone buys a Rolls or Mercedes. Why? Quality isn’t the driver. It’s what it does for them. Sell outcomes, not adjectives.

As a founder, you have to focus on this: Distribution. Distribution will be your moat in 2025 and beyond. A good product alone won't do it anymore.

If your investor doesn’t ask about your moat or assumes you’ll ‘figure it out’ later… run. Smart money wants defensibility from day one.
