Obsessing over distribution is good, but it doesn’t help with when your product has high churn. Churn will always outpace the distribution and hence the growth. Building a good product is still number one priority.

This is such an important point that gets overlooked in the growth-hacking culture. You can have the most sophisticated distribution engine in the world, but if your product leaks like a broken bucket, you're just pouring water into sand. I see so many startups obsessing over viral coefficients and CAC optimization when their Day 7 retention is sitting at 15%. Fix the product first, then scale distribution. The math is simple - if churn > acquisition rate, you're literally burning money to shrink.

Most people confuse what is with what does. Salespeople talk about what their product is. But no one cares. The only thing that matters is what it does for the client. You're not selling the pipe. You're pouring water into their bucket.
