Co-building in Public: Day 18 (The hiring dilemma - ambition vs stability) I will be honest with my network. The biggest challenge that I face on a day-to-day basis is hiring (we call it - onboarding our future partners). Not long ago, I came across a candidate who seemed to be a great fit for our organization – smart, ambitious, and had a great track record. But then I noticed; 6 jobs in the last 7 years. One of them being their own startup. This is where things start to get tricky. On one side, they bring diverse experiences, an entrepreneurial and a growth mindset, job flexibility and so on and so forth. On the other side, can this be called instability? Can this imply they will leave in a year? The lack of long-term commitment. Such is the constant dilemma in hiring. How do you weigh ambition against consistency? Experimentation against stability? What would you have done if you were in my shoes? Would you take the risk or pass?
