Co-building a VC fund in public: Day 23 (Building a strong foundation/founding team; added another rockstar to the team) One of the key challenges with most early-stage founders is building a strong foundation day -1. Of course, founders are alpha-(fe)males, they are rockstars, they are relentless dream chasers, but they have only 18-20 hours a day and only 7 days a week to turn these dreams into reality. So when Gaurav/GV, Rajvardhan/Raj and I started Ortella Global Capital - OG Capital, India's only fund that co-builds companies, we decided to invest not only in companies but heavily invest in a rockstar team of builders, to co-build alongside us. This is key for us. Investing is a people’s business. It is more of an art than science. Now, some people bring in the art, science and expertise in the industry, while others bring in the energy. Rarely does someone bring in both — and leave you deeply grateful. We welcomed Apurva Beniwal today as VP of Investments & Strategy to the OG Capital family, and this one feels special. She has been a founder, an operator and an investor. She is a loving wife to Piyush and a loving mother to Mowgli (in the picture below). She has spent years building and investing, partnered closely with brands shaping the future of consumer and commerce in India, and done the real work on the ground — from backing ideas to helping scale across stages. She is one of those rare people who builds an instant connection with founders, someone who will hop on late-night calls, step into the fire with unwavering composure and excels with strategic thinking, empathetic leadership, and relentless execution. We are building a fund that co-builds with heart and honesty, and today it felt like a big step forward.
