The Dark Rise of Uber! When Uber started, it faced legal issues for operating as a cab service. Travis' response? "We’re just a tech company connecting drivers and users." When government authorities imposed fines on Uber drivers, Uber built a tool to detect accounts made by regulators and simply showed them “No cars available.” When Uber faced competition from Lyft, it developed software to track drivers using both platforms and offered them extra bonuses to stay exclusive.
