daily dose of knowledge : The Frequency Illusion, or Baader-Meinhof Phenomenon Have you ever learnt a new word and then noticed it everywhere? That is the frequency illusion, or Baader-Meinhof phenomenon. This occurs because: 1. Selective Attention: Your brain begins searching for anything new without your conscious awareness. 2. Confirmation Bias: This phenomenon reinforces the illusion by making you feel as though it appears more frequently. This occurs with names, numbers, brands, and even life events. This explains why you start seeing the same phone model everywhere after purchasing a new one. Your brain is more capable than you may realise; it forms connections and patterns without your knowledge!
