In Wayanad, Kerala Forest Officers undertook a daring 8 hour mission to rescue 06 tribals - 04 toddlers and their parents who were belonging to a tribal community in the area. The toddlers were aged between 1 and 4. The family, which belongs to the Paniya community of Wayanad, was stranded in a cave atop a hill. Forest Officer K Hashis spotted the mother of the children wandering around Attamala forest in search of food. According to the woman’s statements, they were without food for 5 days. The woman then led the forest officers to a cave where the four toddlers, aged between 1 and 4 years, were taking shelter. The tribal family was brought to safety in an eight-hour mission. The officers had to tie ropes to trees and rocks to reach the destination and return. Upon returning to the Attamala anti-poaching office, the children were fed and given clothes. The mission was led by Kerala Forest Department RRT.
