Videocon was founded in 1979 by Venugopal Dhoot, a man with a vision as big as his name (which, let's be honest, is pretty big). The company started small, like a little seedling in the vast forest of the Indian electronics industry. But it didn't stay small for long. In 1986, Videocon decided to rebrand itself, probably because "Adhigam Trading" just didn't have the same ring to it. They became Videocon, a name that would soon become synonymous with TVs, washing machines, and air conditioners in India. The 90s were a time of great expansion for Videocon. They added more products to their lineup, like refrigerators and home entertainment systems. It was like they were on a mission to take over every Indian household, one appliance at a time. But Videocon wasn't content with just being the king of consumer electronics. They wanted more. So, they diversified into uncharted territories like oil and gas, telecom.
