šŸ¤Æ Who created emojis ? The first set of emojis was created by Shigetaka Kurita in 1999. Kurita, a Japanese designer, developed the original 176 emoji characters as part of the team working on NTT DoCoMo's i-mode, a mobile internet platform. These early emojis were designed to convey information in a compact and visually appealing way, complementing text and enhancing digital communication. Before the creation of emojis, other forms of symbolic representation and emoticons existed, but Kurita's emojis were the first standardized set intended for use in digital communication. The idea of using symbols to convey emotions and information can be traced back through various cultures and forms of writing, but emojis as we know them today were a product of the late 20th century digital era.
