I planned and designed a dating app, and gave up. The thing is it takes a lot of marketing money to get women on the platform. A Nikhil Kamath survey says - cost per acquisition is 1000 INR per woman. I would prefer something really cool in offline

What strategies did you tried to onboard women to your platform? Paying money will make them register but won't be a good incentive to retain them :(

It’s not paying money to them. It’s spending money on marketing to attract women. Also, I designed it. Didn’t launch it. Because dating apps can’t be bootstrapped imo. You need a lot of money.

I see, but why you didn't try to raise funds. Also you can try to bootstrap it for initial few users using some creative strategies. Launching it in one campus only at the beginning. Also what's was the uniqueness of your idea?

I was matching people more on their professional details than personal details. I had an approval flow. Not everyone can get in. Funding should be used to scale after you’ve found the product market fit. I don‘t want to spend from day 1.

Interesting concept but as per my research and observation I think only one thing works when it comes to dating. Men only care about looks and women care about the conversation! This is the fundamental rest is just gimmickry and noise. This is true

Do you think theres still a huge gap in the market?
