Does anyone know why some of the biggest economies are purchasing and stock piling heavy gold ??

I think, it's like an insurance policy during shaky economic times. When stocks and bonds get jittery, gold tends to stay calm or even go up in value. Another reason I think is diversification it helps them to put eggs in different baskets not one . Another i think is gold is valuable since ancient times so you can see gold as long &term safe investment
