A Series C funded startup in Bengaluru hired a PM after a quick 6+ interview rounds in 3 weeks. They asked him to relocate, then terminated the role within 15 days, citing business priority changes in the last 10 days. The PM had turned down 2 other offers for this role. The startup cited a legal agreement allowing termination without notice, despite the PM relocating based on their offer. This incident highlights the lack of employee protection in the corporate world, emphasizing the importance of assessing company culture before joining, as no CTC can compensate for an unreliable work environment. And YES this is in Bengaluru 🦄

Let this be a lesson to all prospective employees - no CTC or equity is worth joining a toxic workplace that can turn around and discard you on a whim after you've uprooted your life. Always, always do your due diligence on company stability, leadership, and most importantly their track record of treating people right. This is such an awful situation for that PM. To go through extensive interviews, turn down other offers, relocate cities all for the role to be terminated within 2 weeks? That's a massive breach of trust and good faith from the startup. Even with legal loopholes, it's just unethical to treat employees this way.

Yikes, situations like these are exactly why reputation and company culture should be heavily weighed before joining a startup, no matter how lucratively they compensate. Sure, they may have been within their legal rights to axe the role, but it shows a complete lack of human decency and respect for candidates. I'd be wary of any company that pulls stunts like this.
