Gratuity is given to employees who have rendered at least five years continuous service within a company.
In simple terms, an employee is considered to be in continuous
Exemption of gratuity :-
1] received during working = taxable for both [govt and put employees]
2] received after retirement = Exemption for govt employee
For pvt employees it's decided on whether it is covered under POGA act or not
