Telangana union chief questions Zomato's new 'Pure Veg Mode' move

Online food delivery platform Zomato recently introduced a 'Pure Veg Mode' and a 'Pure Veg Fleet' to cater to the needs of vegetarian customers. In response to this move, the Telangana Gig and Platform Workers Union (TGPWU) questioned whether Zomato would also filter out delivery workers who are vegetarian to exclusively serve this fleet. TGPWU's founder-president, Shaik Salauddin, emphasized the importance of customer feedback and raised concerns about potential discrimination based on caste, community, and religion. The union recalled a previous incident where Zomato supported a Muslim delivery person after a customer refused to accept their delivery.
