New-age fashion brand Rare Rabbit has raised Rs 150 crore (approximately $18 million) in primary capital led by A91 Partners. This is the maiden institutional investment for a Bengaluru-based company since its inception in 2015. The board at Rare Rabbit has passed a special resolution to issue 69,230 compulsory convertible preference shares at an issue price of Rs 21,670 each to raise Rs 150 crore, its regulatory filings accessed from the Registrar of Companies show. A91 Partners led the round with Rs 102 crore while Zerodha’s founders NKSquared injected Rs 29 crore. Gruhas Proptech, Ravi Modi Family Trust, and Vendant Modi cumulatively participated with Rs 18.92 crore during the investment. As per TheKredible’s estimates, the company has been valued at around Rs 2,350 crore or $283 million post-allotment. Following the fresh proceeds, the A91 emerging fund will hold 9.65% of the capital while NKSquared and Ravi Modi Family Trust will get 4.15% and 2.13% of the stake in the company, the filing further added. This appears to be a part of a larger round as Rare Rabbit was in talks to raise Rs 500 crore led by A91 partners. Inc42 reported the development first. Rare Rabbit is a high-end fashion brand specializing in designer clothing for men and women. The brand operates more than 100 stores across India and offers collections through its online store. Rare Rabbit demonstrated rapid growth, which is evident from its revenue that scaled 72.3% to Rs 381 crore in FY23 with a positive bottom line of Rs 32 crore in FY23. The company reportedly clocked a revenue of Rs 600 crore in FY24. Rare Rabbit competes with brands like Souled Store, which raised around $29 million and achieved a revenue of Rs 235 crore in FY23. Its other competitors Snitch and WROGN also raised $13 million and $15 million in December 2023 and June respectively. In the past couple of months, a clutch of fashion and apparel brands have raised their maiden institutional round. In May, A91 Partners led a $21 million round in TechnoSport whereas Libas raised $18 million led by ICICI Venture’s fund.

Ice popsicle brand Skippi has raised Rs 12 crore ($1.4 million) in an extended pre-Series A funding round led by the Dubai based strategic family offices of Surya, which invested Rs 10 crore. The remaining Rs 2 crore came from other angel investors. The startup was featured in Shark Tank India Season 1, where it secured Rs 1.2 crore from all six sharks: Aman Gupta, Ashneer Grover, Anupam Mittal, Namita Thapar, Vineeta Singh, and Piyush Bansal, in exchange for an 18 percent equity stake. Since then, the company claims to have grown its monthly revenue 80 times, from Rs 5 to 7 lakh to several crore. The Hyderabad based company had previously raised 1.43 million dollars in a seed round in April 2024 from Hyderabad Angels and others. According to a press release, the fresh funds will be used for growth initiatives, enhancing brand visibility, strengthening working capital, accelerating product innovation, onboarding senior leadership, and expanding into the Middle East market. Co-founded in 2021 by Ravi and Anuja Kabra, Skippi specializes in natural ice pops made with all-natural ingredients and RO water. The brand offers a range of flavors including traditional Indian options like Kala Khatta and follows an omnichannel retail model, selling through its website, online marketplaces, and a network of distributors and stockists. Skippi’s products are now available in over 20,000 retail outlets across India and on platforms such as Zepto, Swiggy Instamart, Amazon, BigBasket, and its own website. The company has also diversified its portfolio with new offerings such as Crazy Corn, Cornsticks, and Cream Rolls.

Direct-to-consumer retail brand Nutrabay has secured $5 million in Series A funding round led by RPSG Capital Ventures along with participation from Kotak Alternate Asset Managers Limited. This is the maiden institutional funding round for the Gurugram-based company. The proceeds will be used for the omni-channel expansion and ramp up new product innovation, Nutrabay said in a press release. Co-founded in 2017 by Sharad Jain, Shreyans Jain, And Divya Prakash Jain, Nutrabayoperates as a direct-to-consumer multi brand retail store housing over 100 brands along with its own private label products under the name of Nutrabay. The private label brand products are sold across its D2C website, all major eCommerce websites and offline supplement stores. According to market research, the Indian nutritional supplements market is expected to hit a valuation of $28.70 billion by 2032, at 10.7% CAGR growth. Nutrabay aims to build one large horizontal brand that spans across 3 pillar categories of sports nutrition, VMS and health food & drinks. The company says that it currently houses over 70 products and saw 80% growth in FY24 over FY23. It intends to add over 50 new products to the portfolio by the next financial year. As per startup data intelligence platform TheKredible, Nutrabay saw 4.66X revenue growth in its operating revenue to Rs 89.53 crore in FY23 from Rs 19.24 crore in FY22. Its losses increased to Rs 5.8 lakh in FY23 from a profit of Rs 32.41 lakh in FY22. Nutrabay competes with HealthKart, Optimum Nutrition, My Protein, and MuscleBlaze, among others in the category.
