The Madhya Pradesh Pratibha Kiran Yojana is a dedicated scholarship initiative launched by the Government of Madhya Pradesh on 1st July 2005 to support the higher education of meritorious girl students from urban areas. This scheme focuses on ensuring that talented girls do not abandon their education due to financial difficulties after completing Class 12. Under this scheme, girl students who have passed Class 12 with 60% or more marks from a school located in an urban area of Madhya Pradesh and have taken admission in a graduation, engineering, or medical course are eligible for monthly financial assistance. The scholarship amount for students enrolled in normal graduation courses is ₹5,000 per year, distributed as ₹500 per month for 10 months. For students pursuing Engineering or Medical courses, the assistance is ₹7,500 per year, paid as ₹750 per month for 10 months. The scheme is implemented by the Higher Education Department of Madhya Pradesh and follows the Direct Benefit Transfer (DBT) system. This ensures that the scholarship amount is transferred directly into the beneficiary’s bank account, maintaining transparency and timely payment. Girl students belonging to General, SC, ST, and OBC categories are eligible, provided they belong to Below Poverty Line (BPL) families and reside in urban areas. Rural area girls are not covered under this scheme and can apply under the Gaon Ki Beti Yojana.
