I don't think this about gender I think its about indian mentality. Most people don't watch cricket because they love the game. They do so because watching their country win, gives them pleasure (and maybe sense of superiority). If the same indian team were stary performing poorly, the viewership will fall atleast to 50%. I am refraining from giving harsh remarks, but you can see the example of hockey. It was loved till india was winning. Take football, all the world thinks football is entertaining. But in india it is not even near mainstream, because the indian team doesn’t win. If a person actually liked the game, he would see BBL and IPL, WPL or even any local game with the same interest. I am not saying women are not disrespected in our country. I am just saying indians don't respect anybody for their hard work and efforts maybe because most indians don't have an idea how hard it is to be good at any sport, then be it women's or men’s.
