Football failed in India, that was the case until reliance entered the field But what did reliance do, to change the perception of football in the country? India is a cricket-dominated market, every other sport by Indians is perceived as useless and beneath cricket But football is a too big opportunity to ignore, That's why in 2013 reliance, star India and the All India Football Federation combined to launch a joint venture called the Indian Super League As of today, ISL has invested $1.8Billion in the sport in the country The most fascinating stuff is that ISL, there were only 4M viewers watching football in India but in 2022 we grew to 500 million viewers across TV and digital platforms What's ahead for ISL is more exciting, as most football leagues have always been known to generate so much wealth like no other sport That's why I always believe in business we should always take the riskiest long term bets
