Dear Uber India - THIS IS HORRIBLE 🙏🙏 Yday morning, I had to book a peak time 8am cab from Faridabad to Paschim Vihar in Delhi. That's a ~50 km journey. - When I checked the app, your ordinary cabs were available for ₹520 - a steal deal - Ask anyone in NCR - Then I saw your XL cab. A big SUV. The price was ₹542 - I thought it was a steal. A WILD deal My first thought was that Uber was pushing SUVs, and discounting XL heavily to get more people to try the comfor of bigger cars. It seemed like a smart promotion. So I booked it. .. But, as I sat in the car, the driver was almost in tears. He was broken. He asked me, "Bhai, what am I supposed to do? I don't know if I want to live anymore." He explained that this XL booking, all the way to Paschim Vihar during peak hours, was priced so low that it was bankrupting him. After all your deductions - commissions, platform fees, everything - what he gets won't even cover his expenses. We’re talking about his CNG fuel, the insane maintenance on a big SUV that driven 14-16hrs a day, insurance, and more. .. Worse, he can’t pay his EMIs. This has been his reality for the last two months. He told me if he can't make the payments, the bank will repossess his ₹14 lakh car. Then what? He has no other skills. He feels he's meant to be exploited. .. He also said the driver unions in Delhi are a joke. They are politically divided. Every time they strike, the union leaders just sit down with Uber management, get flushed with money, and the strike fizzles out. This has been the system for 6-7 yrs. I can't verify this, but it’s what he said. And it just pains me to hear. .. Look, I am an avid Uber user. A power user. My Uber wallet is always topped up with at least ₹20k. - I am a FAN of the service you have built. I’m even an Uber One subscriber - I always choose Uber, even if Ola, Rapido is 10-15% cheaper. Always Cuz I find your service much safer and easier to deal with. Most importantly, your price is your promise. If you quote me a price, it NEVER changes at the end of the trip. .. So please, don't take this as a random complaint from a troll. This is constructive feedback from a loyalist who is deeply distressed by what I saw today. I am not complaining about you charging commissions. That is your business model. But to crash down prices to compete with Ola and Rapido, and then pass that entire burden onto your drivers? That just feels wrong. That is a fight YOU chose to fight for market share. It is NOT the driver's war. Not the guy driving a loaned car 14-16 hours a day, living hundreds of kilometers from his family in UP or Bihar. This is not what he signed up for.

People criticize Bhavish Aggarwal a little too much for "copying" Uber. Bhavish Aggarwal is criticized for copying an startup idea which already existed in the US. I don't think it makes sense to do so, Uber started in 2009, Uber was not a big hit
