Deepinder Goyal has invested $20 million (as a non executive founder) into aviation with LAT Aerospace, a startup he co -founded with Surobhi Das (ex- COO, Zomato). Mission: Build 12-24 seater hybrid-electric STOL (Short take-off and landing) aircraft, basically buses in the sky and the "air-stops" the size of parking lots. India has 450+ unused airstrips (old military, rural airstrips etc), only ~150 are currently active. LAT wants to convert these into low-cost "air-stops" instead of full airports, this means connecting underserved Tier 2 & Tier 3 cities across India. They plan to use existing airstrips to serve regions poorly connected by air until now. No chaos, No security lines; Just walk and fly.
