The National Payments Corporation of India (NPCI) is developing UPI 3.0, an upgrade to its UPI that will enable payments through smart devices. The new system will be Internet of Things (loT) -enabled, allowing automated transactions via devices such as refrigerators, televisions, washing machines, cars, and smartwatches. This upgrade builds on existing features like UPI Autopay and UPI Circle, expanding the platform's utility beyond smartphones. By integrating with loT technology, UPI 3.0 will allow users to automate payments for recurring services, such as subscriptions, directly from connected devices without human intervention.
