We still say: “Did you see that tweet?” “Thread on Twitter going viral” “Follow me on Twitter” It’s like the "X" name never really landed. 𝗡𝗼𝘄 𝗰𝗼𝗺𝗽𝗮𝗿𝗲 𝘁𝗵𝗶𝘀 𝘄𝗶𝘁𝗵 𝘄𝗵𝗮𝘁 𝗕𝘆𝘁𝗲𝗗𝗮𝗻𝗰𝗲 𝗱𝗶𝗱: They bought Musical.ly in 2017 → Rebranded it to TikTok And boom—within months, the whole world called it TikTok. Nobody even remembers the name Musical.ly anymore. 𝗠𝗼𝗿𝗮𝗹 𝗼𝗳 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝘀𝘁𝗼𝗿𝘆: A rebrand only works when the new identity becomes more powerful than the old one. X never did that. TikTok nailed it.
