Sony invented the future. But others built empires from their ideas. From music to cameras to smartphones — Sony built the tech. Others scaled it. Others took the market. This is how Sony changed the world — and got left behind. Sony created the first portable music player. 🎧 The Walkman launched in 1979. It sold over 400 million units. But decades later, Apple dropped the iPod… And took over digital music. 👉 Sony lost a market it created. --- Sony helped invent the CD with Philips in 1982. Then came DVDs. Then Blu-ray. 🎬 Sony helped shape all 3. But Apple, Microsoft, Netflix, and Amazon took the real rewards — through software and streaming. --- 📱 Sony's phones were ahead of their time. High-res cameras. Music tech. Waterproofing. Years before the competition. But Sony never figured out marketing. The Xperia line never took off. Apple and Samsung? Dominated. --- 📲 In fact, Sony made a touchscreen phone in 2004 — 3 years before the iPhone. It was called the Sony Ericsson P900. It had apps, stylus input, multitasking. Then… they shelved it. And watched Apple make history in 2007.
