Yeah that's true. However, that still worked for them. And btw just buying an app isn't enough. You also need to keep it engaging and Zuck did that perfectly. There were multiple so called successful social media apps like BeReal, Vine, etc which failed because they just got boring after some time (and because of finances). I Do Agree that Meta doesn't really innovate but they made sure that they kinda catch up with what's working rn. Because of that, Meta is still the dominant player when it comes to VR/AR and Llama 3.1 is the 2nd most downloaded Ai model for self hosting (just behind Alibaba's Qwen). So they're doing their job well, but not as they were supposed to for sure.
