“Bhai, I messed up, but I want to make it right this time.” A few years ago, I was helping a D2C founder I’d met in Delhi. During a big sporting event, he asked me to get him in as a sponsor. The client, who trusted us deeply, slashed the fee by 60 percent for him. But he ghosted. No payment, no delivery, just branding and spot sales. We were left embarrassed, but the client said, “I still trust you.” Time passed. He shut down that brand. Last year, he came back with a new idea and asked for intros. I could’ve said no. But something in him had changed. I laid out my expectations and helped him. He delivered. Got orders. Raised a cheque. We became friends. Not everyone deserves a second chance. But some do. And sometimes, the values our parents taught us , trust, grace, forgiveness, go much further than any strategy. Would love to know, would you have helped him again?

“He was the loudest guy in every room. Now he quietly runs a ₹200 Cr business.” A childhood friend of mine loved the spotlight. Loud, expressive, always chasing attention. Back in school, he once said — “If people aren’t watching, what’s the point?”
