Hello guys, I have one doubt as taxi services are not allowed if anyone is doing without yellow number plates but if I'm making any app where I'll not register any yellow number plates or commercial vehicle for taking ride I'll just approach private car owners who are travelling and we'll connect passengers for their existing route for vacant seats .also we will not promote it No ads like taxi services,No refferal and its helpful for environment like we are saving fuel and reducing pollution as well So I wanted to know this concept is okay as per government regulations or not ???

You're conflating "taxi services" with "ride aggregation." Even carpooling apps fall under transport aggregator guidelines in most states. No yellow plates ≠ no regulations. You'll likely need: aggregator license, driver verification systems, insurance coverage, data protection compliance. Don't assume good intentions = legal exemption.

From a legal standpoint, the Motor Vehicle Act doesn't distinguish between "taxi apps" and "carpooling apps", it looks at commercial vs non-commercial use. If your app generates revenue (even through cost-sharing), you might need aggregator licenses. Check state-specific rules, Karnataka, Delhi, Maharashtra all have different interpretations.
