That's exactly why those Steve Jobs' launches felt so good. Elon Musk does the same when it comes to Tesla. Launching the product live! Even when it's risky, it feels so good. Also there's nothing called negative publicity if you're product is actually good. Look at what happened when Cybertruck's glass broke in the demo. That incident received so much free publicity there by advertising Cybertruck for free.

Obsessing over distribution is good, but it doesn’t help with when your product has high churn. Churn will always outpace the distribution and hence the growth. Building a good product is still number one priority.
