How a Real Estate Agent Earns (Profit) : 1. Commission: When a property is bought or sold, the agent receives a percentage of the total price of the deal as commission. Example: If the price of the flat is ₹50 lakh and the agent's commission is 2%, then his earning will be ₹50,00,000 × 2% = ₹1,00,000 2. Fees as per deal: Some agents also work on a fixed fee, like ₹50,000 or ₹1 lakh per deal. 3. Brokering Charges: In some cases the agent may be involved with both the buyer and the solar. 4. Other Service Charges: Fee is charged for property registration, consulting or legal help.
