āBuild something useful. Not something big.ā Just finished reading Anything You Want by Derek Siversāand itās a solid read. No motivational fluff. Just clean, straight-up stories from someone who actually built something real (CD Baby), made millions, and gave it away like it was pocket change. Here are some things that hit me hard (and honestly, I feel more founders need to hear this): Business isnāt about chasing money. Itās about helping people. Moneyās just the side effect of solving a real problem well. You donāt need a 5-year plan to start. He just fixed a small problem for some friends & himself, kept improving it, and boomābusiness. No mission decks, no āletās raise seedā mindset. Just doing the work. You can make your own rules. No meetings? No investors? Fully async team? Do your thingāas long as it helps you actually serve people better. Customers donāt care about your grand vision. They care about whether your product works today. A lot of folks forget this while chasing unicorn dreams. If it doesnāt fit, skip it. Not every opportunity is worth chasing. Stay focused. Shiny distractions are still distractions. The bookās basically a reminder that itās 100% okay to build something small and niche, as long as itās genuinely useful. So if youāre building something right nowādonāt stress about being the ānext big thing.ā Focus on being the right thing for a small group of people. Thatās where the magic starts. Anyway, big fan of this book. Super chill read. If youāve read itāor are building something coolādrop it here. Would love to check it out.
