𝗧𝗵𝗲 𝗢𝗯𝘀𝗲𝘀𝘀𝗶𝗼𝗻 𝗧𝗵𝗮𝘁 𝗕𝘂𝗶𝗹𝘁 𝗠𝗶𝗰𝗿𝗼𝘀𝗼𝗳𝘁 Bill Gates once removed the radio from his car. Why? Because he didn’t want anything to take his mind off Microsoft. Back in the 1980s, when Microsoft was still small, Bill gave journalist Michael Moritz a ride to the airport. Moritz noticed there was no radio and asked why. Bill’s answer? “𝐈𝐟 𝐈’𝐯𝐞 𝐠𝐨𝐭 𝐭𝐡𝐞 𝐫𝐚𝐝𝐢𝐨, 𝐈’𝐦 𝐚𝐟𝐫𝐚𝐢𝐝 𝐭𝐡𝐚𝐭 𝐈’𝐥𝐥 𝐬𝐰𝐢𝐭𝐜𝐡 𝐢𝐭 𝐨𝐧 𝐚𝐧𝐝 𝐈 𝐰𝐨𝐧’𝐭 𝐛𝐞 𝐭𝐡𝐢𝐧𝐤𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐚𝐛𝐨𝐮𝐭 𝐌𝐢𝐜𝐫𝐨𝐬𝐨𝐟𝐭.” Moritz called it obsession. And he was right. This wasn’t just about staying focused. It was about making sure every thought, every moment, went into building Microsoft. That’s the difference between good founders and great ones. Success doesn’t come from working hard once in a while. It comes from shaping your entire life around your mission. So ask yourself: 𝐖𝐡𝐚𝐭’𝐬 𝐲𝐨𝐮𝐫 𝐫𝐚𝐝𝐢𝐨? And are you willing to remove it?
