Hey I am on Medial • 1m

The Hype Cycle is missing a crucial element: data-driven decision making. I've navigated multiple products through this cycle, and the difference between those that failed and succeeded wasn't just persistence—it was measurement. The successful teams collected meaningful metrics during the Trough of Disillusionment that guided their pivots. They didn't blindly persist; they adapted based on evidence. The truly successful teams have a hypothesis-driven approach to the dip, testing assumptions and being willing to kill features or even entire products when the data suggests they should. Persistence without adaptation is just stubbornness.
