This analysis completely misses the fundamental truth about monetization: it follows attention, not the other way around. TikTok wasn't built to monetize vertically; it was built to capture attention horizontally. The monetization strategy evolved AFTER they captured billions of eyeballs. Claiming 'horizontal networks are over' is like saying 'nobody goes to that restaurant anymore, it's too crowded.' People still desperately want to build billion-user platforms. The strategy hasn't changed, only the difficulty has increased.
