Co-Build a VC Fund in Public: Day 9 (and funding announcement!) Have you ever wondered what chemicals or pesticides are present in the tissues we randomly pick off the shelves? Do we ever pause to think about the toxins in the tissues or the wrapping and baking papers that we use for our meals? Mayank does. And that is exactly why he started The Honest Home Company. I saw a lot of me in him. He did not come from a tier-1 college or city, he did not use startup lingo much, he will not be at the centre of a conference but most probably in one corner, but will close a sales to a Dmart or Blinkit in a blink of an eye. He expresses himself in Hindi—a language close to our roots but not the language of our usual pitch decks. But for us, what stood out was his unshakable conviction, deep domain expertise and unbeatable execution. Only a few founders can build out INR100cr (US$12M) PROFITABLE D2C brands while hyperscaling - Mayank is one of those rare gems. Mayank grew up in Dhampur, a small town where his father, a farmer, taught him the values of honesty, community, and respect for the land. These values shaped his life and became the foundation of the first Company that we invested in from our fund Ortella Global Capital (@OG Capital) in Jan-24. The Honest Home Company is about a purpose that all of us at OG Capital believe in too - Sustainability is not a privilege for the few but a choice every Indian household should be able to make. And that is exactly what Mayank is solving for: affordable, eco-friendly products that save the environment without breaking the bank. Mayank’s journey is not about flashy launches or headlines. It is a story of persistence—of understanding the Indian offline distribution structure from the ground up, running factories instead of pitching in boardrooms, and staying true to his belief that honesty and integrity will always win. We are fortunate to be co-building with founders like Mayank, who inspire us with their grit and purpose every day. The Honest Home Company is not just a brand; it is a movement to prove that sustainability does not have to come with a high price tag, making it possible for households to adopt eco-friendly living. And Mayank? He is the kind of founder who reminds you why we do what we do. Here is to the courage to believe in something bigger, to the honesty that drives it, and to the legacy The Honest Home Company is creating—one sustainable choice at a time. We continue to invest and build companies at Ortella Global Capital - OG Capital, India's only fund that co-builds companies with Gaurav Verma and Rajvardhan Mohite. #OGCapital #Ortella #Ortellaglobalcapital #OGfamily #OGteam
